Illustrated Typography

COMD 319

Illustrated Typography is a course designed to enhance sensitivity to and bridge the gap between textual design and image making. Because of the inherent relationship of message and image in illustration, the treatment of words in and around the picture can make or break the communication. In this course students will address concerns of layout and typeface selection as well as their own generated type designs to enhance the editorial, conceptual, and narrative concerns of the illustration.
