Every chance he gets while teaching his Design Procedures classes (aside from his constant computer tidiness admonitions), Bert will mention his mantra: “Integrate words & images: make words illustrative, make images narratative.” Generations of students who frequent sidewalk cafes in Greenwich Village may recognize him as the NYC volunteer street tree pruner in the branches above them who may have accidentally lobbed sawdust into their cappuccinos.

Bert teaches Design Procedures iI.
