Edel Rodriguez

Visiting Assistant Professor

Edel Rodriguez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1971. In 1980, Rodriguez and his family boarded a boat and left for America. They settled in Miami where Rodriguez was introduced to and influenced by American pop culture for the first time. In 1994, Rodriguez graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. In 1998, he received an MFA degree in painting from the Hunter College graduate program. His bold, figurative works have been published in TIME and Newsweek, The New Yorker, Rolling Stone and many other publications, book covers and ad campaigns. Rodriguez's artwork is in the collections of a variety of institutions and private collections, including the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C.  He has written and illustrated many books for children and exhibits and lectures about his work internationally.  Rodriguez is the recipient of six medals from the Society of Illustrators and three Cubes from The Art Directors Club. 

Edel teaches Graphic Design/Illustration Senior Project.
